Newb just starting out.
I'm self-aware enough to know that I'm a slob, and that without
structure, my note taking will liable to be sporadic, non-existant, or
just too crappy to go back and try to decipher.
In my busines life, I religiously use a Franklin-Covey planner to
keep me from routinely getting fired, so I'm wondering what methods
of journalling and record keeping folks employ for their beekeeping
activities?
Are there specific redundant things you write down every time you open
your boxes, or do most just log a freehand entry, or do nothing at
all?
Are there paper preformatted notebook type logs available
specifically for beekeeping?
Any good software applications?
Thanks,
tom |

I look back at meetings where the one with the biggest Franklin was the
winner - pathetic - and I am soooo grateful to be free from that bunch.
One guy, whipped out a three section Franklin, I assume it was only
three sections but then that was all the room he had to unfold it, and
the other Franklinites oooed and drooled in envy, oh to be as important
as THAT guy! Franklin marketing has done a phenomenal job.
For your bee yard keep a Jr. legal pad in a zip lock baggie with a pen -
the bees won't care one way or the other how you keep records. Write
simple notes with dates & time about your observations like: hot day,
rainy day, found queen, watched wiggle dance, smells great, strong hive,
mean temperament, bees doing a good/poor job of housekeeping, strange
odor, all bees dead, and record any changes you make like splits, adding
supers, using queen excluder, treatment for mites, etc.

I don't think I have ever been so releived to be able to admit that I
haven't the slightest notion of what is being discussed.

I don't do bees (due to an evil husband, I am just an interested spectator),
but I think if you download the Microsoft Education pack, you can install a
free version of the Agilix gobinder, which will allow you to not only take
notes, but also schedule upcoming tasks, etc. And I recently found that
these tasks synched automatically with my PDA/phone, even though I don't use
Outlook on my laptop.

I started a googlepages website. WYSIWYG and no experience other than
typing words spelled correctly is required. And even that one isn't
cast in stone lol
When on the google search page and where the< Web Images Groups etc
