|
|
My wife and I are new at bee keeping.
I was told that Eucalyptus leaves under the hive can help get rid of some of
the mites that the bees can get.
I was thinking of putting some of the shredded pine (like for a hamster
cage) and putting a few drops of Eucalyptus oil on it instead of the leaves
underneath a hive?
If this is acceptable, how much of the oil should I use?
Thanks,
Scott<- |

75% thymol, 16% eucaliptus oil, 4.5% campher, & 4.5% menthol. Put 10cc on a 1/2 |
sponge and repeat in two weeks.

For clairity's sake, do you mean underneath the actual hive itself, or
are you meaning inside at the bottom eg. sitting on top of the bottom
board and directly underneigh the bottom brood chamber? I have never
tried this method but will when I need to. I would have assumed it
would need to be in the hive for the odours to affect the mites.
Thanks, paul |

The sponge is placed under the inner cover on the top bars. |
