Hi,

Does anybody ever use linseed or teak oil to preserve wood on hives?

Just looing at alternatives.

Hi,

Living in California, the weather is usually not too extreme, so many
beekeepers here are starting to not paint or only minimally paint
their hives so as to avoid extra chemical strains on the bees. I
painted the joints on mine then do linseed once a year in the spring.
This is my first year, but the bees and the woodwork seem fine.

Excellent, thanks. Unfortunately I suspect the UK is somewhat not like
California :-(

However, at least I know somebody else does use it - and IU suspect it
should work here OK
